Seoul's Fireworks Festival 2026 — Here's What You Missed (and How to Plan for Next Year)
About a million people turned out along the Han River on September 5, the organizer said. If you weren't one of them, here's what actually went down — and how to plan for 2027.

What Happened
Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2026
The pre-show ran the evening of September 4, with the main event on September 5 at Yeouido Hangang Park, along the stretch between Mapo Bridge and the Han River Railway Bridge. This year's theme was "Your Infinite Colors" — teams from Korea, the US, and the UK each took a turn pairing fireworks with music.
- Main fireworks show: 8:00 PM – 9:10 PM, September 5
- General viewing at Yeouido and Ichon was free
- Reserved paid seating was available on Nodeul Island via the Orange Play app
- Streamed live on Hanwha's YouTube channel from 6:30 PM for anyone not in Seoul
The same week nearby
Seoul Autumn Festa — a 40-day performing arts season with 116 festivals and performances across the city — opened the same week, so the fireworks weekend wasn't a one-off; it was the start of the city's autumn events calendar.
Planning for Next Year
This is an annual event, but its date isn't fixed. Last year's show ran on September 27, and this year organizer Hanwha moved it up to September 5 to avoid the Chuseok holiday and better fit the tourist season, according to The Korea Times. The 2027 date hasn't been announced, so wait for the organizer's announcement before you book flights or hotels around it.
Before you go, whichever year
Programs, times, ticketing and access rules change from year to year, so confirm them on the organizer's official channels. Show night draws enormous crowds along the river — follow staff and police directions, and give yourself extra time to get in and out.
